Following this report, car retailers and manufacturers are obliged to sell vehicle service and repair information to Australian independent repairers at a fair market price to provide flexibility to new car owners.
Car manufacturers previously had the option to provide this information to their franchise dealers only, and would not share it with the wider repair network. This law, which is the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, makes it easier for your independent mechanic to access technical information about your vehicle.
